My Mission

My goal is to give Sudanese students online access to Primary and Secondary English and French, IGCSE English as a First Language, IGCSE English as a Second Language and IGCSE French tuition delivered by an English native speaker educated in France with experience leading British schools in Sudan and teaching Sudanese students since 1995.
Who am I?
Capita Resourcing.
My name is Abdur Rahman llott. I am British, and have been married to my Sudanese wife since 1996. We have 5 children.
Like you, I have been deeply concerned by events in Sudan since April 15th, 2023.
Like you, we have suffered theft, break-ins, and worry about our relatives and friends in Sudan.
Like you, I miss the weather, the food, family, friends and the life we had in Sudan.
This initiative is our attempt to assist Sudanese students at this difficult time, wherever they may be.
Educated in France and the UK, I have extensive experience and numerous achievements as both a teacher and leader in British schools in Sudan.
First recruited by Mr Omar Abdel Ati and Mr Ahmed Bur to teach English at KIPS in 1995, my knowledge of Arabic gave me an advantage over other native-speaking English teachers, as it allowed me to understand the linguistic reasons for common errors made by Sudanese learners of English and address them effectively.
From day one, I knew I was born to be a teacher, as that lightbulb moment, when a student learns something new, gives me a tremendous sense of satisfaction.
I have worked as a Primary teacher, Secondary French teacher and Head of Modern Foreign Languages (French, Malay and Arabic as a Foreign Language) at Unity High School. All of my French students achieved A* or A at IGCSE. I was a leading member of Curriculum and Assessment, A-Level, SIMS (a school management computerised data system) and Arabic whole school development groups, prepared and delivered an AS-Level roll-out presentation to other British schools and negotiated the SIMS contract with the UK supplier, Capita Resourcing.
As Principal of the British Educational Schools' IGCSE/National Curriculum Section, I introduced all statutory and optional National Curriculum tests in Primary and Secondary a year before Unity High School and offered French and Chinese simultaneously in Primary and Secondary for the first time in Sudan. My commitment to increasing teaching standards across the school led to an increase in the percentage of students achieving A and A* at IGCSE by 400%.
I have experience of school start-ups in Sudan, having set up a National Curriculum/IGCSE section at Al-Jezeera Private Schools with 126 students in its first year of operation, and also have worked as Headmaster of Leaders International Schools and Khartoum Diplomatic School, Deputy Headmaster at the Sudanese International Academy and Educational Consultant at Khartoum Grammar School.
Over the years, many of my non-native English students achieved A in Cambridge IGCSE First Language English (0500).

"Mr Abdur Rahman emailed me a First Language English baselining test on March 9th, 2024 that I completed under exam conditions to quickly identify my areas for development. He asked me to always make a written plan before starting to write, developed my knowledge of transition words to ensure my writing flowed and to avoid repetition, and enhanced my knowledge of stylistic devices, allowing me to effectively analyse how writers use language to convey meaning and to create effect. He corrected all of my work prior to lessons and we went through all mark schemes for the papers I completed together. This gave me a clear understanding of both the criteria examiners use to assign the highest marks and the shortcomings in my own answers. Alhamdulillah today I got an A* in First Language English, thanks to Mr Abdur Rahman. I am very thankful for the lessons that we had and the grade that I have received as a result of his guidance. I will definitely recommend Mr Abdur Rahman to everyone I know! 😊"

"As a former student of Mr Abdur Rahman, I am very happy to hear he is setting up this wonderful initiative to help displaced students affected by the situation in Sudan. Mr Abdur Rahman was my year 10 English teacher at KDS, a year before I took my IGCSE exams. He introduced us to the possibility of sitting for First Language English instead of Second Language English for our IGCSE and gave us the opportunity to test our abilities. He tailored his teaching to meet each and every student’s objective, with exercises to improve our handwriting, grammar and vocabulary skills. I benefitted a lot from the weekly reading schedule where he had us pick a book to read in an allotted time frame and report on. This tremendously improved my vocabulary and writing skills. I attended after school tuition with him for a few months before taking the exam where we focused on exam techniques and creative writing. All of this contributed to me achieving an A in First Language English, by the grace of Allah first and the efforts of Mr Abdur Rahman second. I had always enjoyed his lessons and gained a lot from his insights. It is an honour to have had Mr Abdur Rahman as a teacher."

"Mr. Abdur Rahman's knowledge of the IGCSE English curriculum and comprehensive teaching style helped me achieve an A in IGCSE First Language English."

"My very first interaction with Teacher Abdur Rahman was when he came into our classroom to supervise us during a free period and I vividly remember being extremely impressed by how fluently he spoke the Sudanese dialect and how advanced his Arabic was! That was when he advised me to switch to the English as a First Language class and despite my initial hesitation, he assured me that it would be a challange I can undertake, which I did, and under his continued guidance, briliant teaching and endless support I got an A in my final IGCSE examination.
It came as no surprise to me that Mr. Abdur Rahman started this wonderful initiative as he has always been a great mentor and because of his great love for Sudan. I will forever be grateful to have been taught by such an excellent teacher and proud to have been his student." Tasneem Mustafa
Junior doctor

"Mr Abdur Rahman was my grade 10 IGSCE English teacher at KDS, who I also attended after school tuition with. Mr Abdur Rahman helped me achieve a B in First Language English with a score of 1 in speaking.
During this time, Mr Abdur Rahman continuously made sure to tailor his teaching towards every student's strengths and weaknesses. We worked on spelling, utilising an array of vocabulary and creative writing. As well as this, he also helped me perfect my final speaking topic, which I later on used in my final exam.
Lessons with Mr Abdur Rahman were always very useful and insightful and I am very grateful we had the chance to work with him."

"Mr. Abdelrahman has played a pivotal role in shaping the person I am today. From a young age, my passion for storytelling faced challenges in Sudan's creative landscape. However, encountering someone who not only encourages your creativity but genuinely believes in your potential is a rarity. Mr. Abdelrahman not only recognized my gift for writing but actively nurtured it.
In a country where pursuing a creative path, especially in writing, posed challenges, Mr. Abdelrahman's unwavering support made all the difference. When the suggestion to take First Language English surfaced, I hesitated, anticipating difficulties. Yet, under his guidance, choosing First Language English became an enlightening journey.
After reading one of my stories, Mr. Abdelrahman suggested that I consider a future as a writer. It was a turning point in my life. Today, I proudly stand on the brink of releasing my debut novel, having penned countless scripts and stories – a testament to the writer I've become.
I owe an immeasurable debt of gratitude to Mr. Abdelrahman for not only recognizing my potential but for instilling in me the belief that I could make a meaningful impact through my writing. As Roosevelt wisely said, 'We can't build the future for our youth, but we can build the youth for the future.' Mr. Abdelrahman's commitment to building a brighter future through nurturing young talents has left an indelible mark on my journey as a writer.
Thank you, Mr. Abdelrahman, for inspiring and guiding me toward a path I now proudly call my own."
